Azalea Street Redevelopment Project
The Azalea Street Redevelopment Project is a collaborative initiative between the City of Hinesville, the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority (HDDA), and the Hinesville Housing Authority designed to create new pathways to homeownership for local residents.
This project will transform the Azalea Street corridor through the construction of seven newly built single-family homes, developed specifically for residents currently living in Housing Authority communities. The initiative is part of a broader community revitalization strategy that supports neighborhood stability, economic mobility, and long-term wealth building for local families.
Each home will be priced between $200,000 and $234,000 and will be offered through a Lease-to-Own Homeownership Program. This program allows qualified residents to transition from renting to owning while building the financial foundation necessary for long-term homeownership.
Through this program, participating residents will have the opportunity to:
During the lease period, participants will receive guidance and resources aimed at preparing them for successful homeownership. At the end of the five-year term, residents will be positioned to secure permanent mortgage financing and purchase the home.
To further support affordability, the program will leverage multiple homeownership assistance resources, including:
These resources are designed to reduce upfront financial barriers and make homeownership more accessible for qualified participants.
The Azalea Street Redevelopment Project reflects a forward-thinking partnership focused on community reinvestment, housing stability, and generational wealth creation. By aligning local development initiatives with homeownership opportunities, the project helps ensure that residents of Hinesville have a direct pathway to participate in the growth and prosperity of their community.
